Soon Dubai Is Going To Be Just An Underwater Train Ride Away From Mumbai!

Humanity has mastered almost every form of travelling. Thanks to the Wright brothers, we can fly from one country to another in a matter of seconds. If you don’t love flying, you can travel by car or by train. And if you don’t have acute motion-sickness or or ice-berg-phobia (it can happen after watching ‘Titanic’ too many times), then you can opt for the cruise.

However, underwater travel has been limited to the Navy, Aquaman and Namor. But that can change due to a joint venture between UAE and India.

According to Khaleej Times, National Advisor Bureau Limited managing director and chief consultant, Abdulla Alshehhi has announced that in the near future, underwater rail network will become a reality. He said,

“This is a concept. We plan to connect Indian city of Mumbai with Fujairah through ultra-speed floating trains. The project aims to boost bilateral trade.”

Alshehhi, founder of the consultancy firm that’s based in Masdar, also added that,

“There will be export of oil to India from Fujairah port and import of excess water from Narmada River, north of Mumbai. In addition, other GCC partners can also improve export and import.”

You can start undergoing therapy to curb your hydrophobia and claustrophobia because this underwater railway track will take some time to plan and construct. Alshehhi said,

“We will do feasibility study of the project. This is concept but a cool project to look at.”

Alshehhi said that the floating underwater network will not only benefit UAE and India, but others in the region as well. And as for you math enthusiasts, the total rail network will be less than 2000km. So, now go figure how long it’ll take to reach Dubai from Mumbai.

Elon Musk has already decided to reinvent transportation by eliminating the barriers of distance and time with the Hyperloop. In the meantime, Audi, Airbus and Italdesign has launched its prototype for the flying taxi. And with this underwater railway track, the future that Blade Runner 2049 showed us will not be far away. That said, what will be your preferred mode of transportation?
