1987’s cult classic ‘Mr. India’ one of the most amazing films made in the history of Indian cinema. From Anil Kapoor and Sridevi’s (Arun – Seema) love-hate relationship to Amrish Puri’s (Mogambo) villainous laughter – this film had enigmatic characters and a terrific story-line.
If you are 90’s kid, you have perhaps grown up watching and imagining your life with that gadget that Mr. India laid his hands on. I mean, how cool it would be to go invisible!
Helmed by ace director Mr. Shekhar Kapoor, the film was way ahead of its time and was praised by critics and audience alike.
And, to add to your super-nostalgic Wednesday, the birds and bees tell us that ‘Mr. India 2’ might be happening! YAASSS! While Anil Kapoor and Sridevi are busy with other projects, Boney Kapoor was reached for a statement by Bombay Times. To add to our excitement, he said –
“Yes ‘Mr India’ sequel is definitely on. However, I can’t talk any more now or reveal any more details. We will make the official announcements after everything thing is worked out creatively. “
Wait, there’s more! A report in Deccan Chronicle also said that, Anil Kapoor and Sridevi might reprise their roles in the film. The young actors of the film are yet to be cast. They quoted a source saying that the plot of this film is going to be very intriguing!
“The idea is to take the story forward, but not just for the heck of it. We wanted a solid plot, and we have got it.”
The reports suggest that Shekhar Kapoor has refused to direct the sequel of the film. Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and Ravi Udyawar are being considered for the direction of the much awaited sequel.
While we can’t wait for ‘Mr. India 2’ to happen, we are definitely going to miss Amrish Puri quipping ‘Mogambo khush hua’ a lot.
