Met Gala 2021: A Peek At The Best, Most Powerful & Worst Celebrity Looks

The Met Gala is back! This is the time when many of the world’s biggest celebrities get to dress in gorgeous/outrageous/downright ridiculous outfits while the rest of us get to sit back, grab a bowl of popcorn, and enjoy the show…well, virtually.

This year’s Met didn’t disappoint. With the theme being “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion”, designers got a chance to explore American fashion and interpret it in their own way. First, let’s look at some of the best looks seen this year.

1. We had to start with Queen JLO! Jennifer Lopez made an entry wearing a Ralph Lauren gown with a high slit, a faux fur wrap and a cowgirl hat.

2. Supermodel Iman Abdulmajid looks like the Sun Goddess in this absolutely gorgeous Harris Reed outfit.

3. In 2019, Lady Gaga had 4 red carpet looks. One would think that no one could top that. But then came Lil Nas X. This was his first look:

He then stripped the cape and out came…this. Anyone else reminded of R2D2?

And finally, this was his third look. Honestly, Versace outdid themselves.

4. Only Timothée Chalamet can come to MET Gala in a pair of sweatpants and Converse sneakers and look bomb AF.

5. Billie Eilish was seen in a custom Oscar de la Renta gown and boy, did she look like a dream!

Now, on to the ones who were brave to wear something…let’s just say nobody else would dare.

11. For the first time ever, Rihanna didn’t steal the show. Her boyfriend ASAP Rocky did who literally showed up in a rajai.

12. Grimes showed up with a sword.

13. And Hunter Schafer looks like a supervillain straight out of the Marvel universe who can cut you open with her eyes. *shivers*

14. Let us take a moment to celebrate what a legend Naomi Osaka is. Dressed in Louis Vuitton, she made an important personal and political statement. According to Vogue, the print on her outfit and her hair symbolises Japanese heritage and represents her biracial identity.

Let’s move on to the category I’d like to call What were you thinking? And I know exactly who I want to begin with.

15. KIM KARDASHIAN!

Her black Balenciaga haute couture gown clouds her in mystery and anonymity.

16. What is a horse doing on Kim Petras?

There has been another set of celebrities this year who need our attention. Presenting, people who made a strong statement at the MET.

17. Dan Levy advocating for gay rights.

18. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez being herself even on the red carpet.

19. I love Cara Delevingne.
