Karnataka Councillor In Trouble For Recommending Rum & Eggs As COVID Home Remedy

With the rise of surging COVID-19 cases all over the world, people are waiting with bated breath for a viable cure for the disease. But until now, there isn’t any certified vaccine or medicine available yet. But that hasn’t stopped people from trying out their luck with their bizarre coronavirus cure claims. Recently, a sweet shop owner in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu was booked for claiming that his ‘Mysore Pak’ can cure the disease.

The latest to join this list is Mangaluru Councillor Ravichandra Gatti who belongs to the Ullal City Municipal Council, reports TOI. In a video that is now widely shared, Gatti can be seen misleadingly recommending a particular brand of rum along with eggs as a cure for COVID-19.

Twitter user Kiran Parashar who’s also a reporter shared the video:-

In the video, he can be seen saying, “There are many people who drink rum in Bengaluru and Madikeri, but I don’t drink and I eat no fish. You just put one teaspoon-full of pepper powder into 90ml of rum, stir it well using your hands and drink it.”

“Also, eat two half-boiled omelets along with it to ensure that coronavirus vanishes. I tried many medicines, but only this worked. I am suggesting this not as a politician, but as a member of the corona committee,” he claims in the video, referring to his panel. As per a report in Mid Day, an official from the Ullal Municipal Commissioner’s office informed that councilors were made members in the ward level COVID task force committees for planning and discussion.

Gatti, who has reportedly been a social worker for 15 years, is now not reachable on his phone. Other party workers have also refused to comment on the video as per reports.
