At least once in your life, you will come across a man who argues against women wearing makeup. It’s either about how much or how little is it okay for women to wear makeup, how much time and money they waste behind it, or that they can start wearing it wherever and whenever they wish.
It’s completely fine for one to judge, but what’s an absolutely no-no is to openly shame women who wear makeup, in person or on social media.
Having said that, one man came across a woman wearing makeup on a train. What’s majorly creepy is that he slyly took her picture, posted it on Twitter and shamed her.
His tweet drew a lot of flak online which is why he later went on to delete it. But not quick enough for people to take a screen-grab! This is what he wrote:
“So WTF? Makeup on the tube? Really I mean would you brush your teeth on the tube? Pluck? Wash your face? This may split opinion but to me this is odd. This was the full works too not just a lippy top up it was foundation and beyond! #justgetupearlier #timemanagementinnit.”
…I honestly cannot roll my eyes any further.
As the tweet went viral, netizens stepped up to school the man of basic decency and how it was inappropriate of him to take someone’s picture without their knowledge and downright unacceptable to shame them on social media. Many also said how it was absolutely normal for women to wear makeup while travelling via public transport.
Taking pictures of woman on the tube who are applying make up is a bit creepy

Loads of us do this! It’s not scrubbing off dirt or removing hairs…

Pretty sure taking pictures of a stranger on the tube and posting it to the internet without their permission is worse than putting on makeup. https://t.co/lHtomRy9ue

What's less 'allowed' is taking photographs of strangers on the tube and sharing them for criticism online.

Just like it’s okay for people to listen to music, eat a sandwich, take a nap, or read a book in public transport, it’s absolutely normal for people to wear makeup on their way to work or a gathering. We hope this incident stands as an example for people not to photograph others without their permission and shame them on social media.
