Bored 23 YO Dedicates 2 Hours To Find Out How Many Licks It Takes To Finish A Lollipop

The quarantine life has left us with ample free time. And, while initially many of us enjoyed this leisure time, it is now starting to get tedious. So, in order to kill the boredom, people have come up with several creative ideas like ‘balcony concerts‘ or fun ‘virtual parties‘.

Recently, a 23-year-old engineering student conducted a bizarre experiment to keep himself busy amid the pandemic. James Hunt, from Chester, England, tried to find out how many licks it would take to finish off a lollipop completely, reports News18.

James spent almost two hours licking a strawberry Chupa Chups lolly until he was left with just the stick. Reportedly, his mission was born out of ‘sheer boredom’. Initially, he set a goal of 250 licks, however, by 500 his tongue started to hurt, reports the Republic World.

“Usually you tend to suck it so you’ve got a lot of saliva and I didn’t think I had the stamina either. I started to lick it and after about 500 it starts to hurt and then I started to get shaky as well for some reason,” he was quoted saying.

He said that as the lollipop became smaller, it felt like a test of his stamina. However, he kept licking the candy stick. And, finally, he managed to finish off the lollipop in almost 1417 licks. Honestly, I have always thought about this as a kid. So, now I finally know. Did you ever think about this? Tell us!
