When you’re working long hours at the office, struggling to save money at the end of the month, paying endless bills and having assignments piled on your desk, you might think how great it would have been if you could just sit at home with someone else handling all the expenses. You might even think that it’s better to be a homemaker.
A Reddit user asked Indian women online if they ever wanted to quit their career and become a homemaker instead.
“So, I was talking to a friend of mine and we were discussing career stuff. And she told me that sometimes she just wants to be a trophy wife/housemaker and be free from this rat race,” the user wrote.

Responding to the post, there were some men who quickly agreed and said that they wanted to become homemakers instead.
Meanwhile, many women said that while they might think about it, they would never go ahead and leave their jobs as financial independence is of utmost importance for them.
However, there were many others who highlighted that housework is no joke – it is a full-time, thankless, salary-less job.
Some downright said ‘no’.
To become a full-time homemaker or a working employee is completely the decision of the person in question. Both should be normalised and not looked down upon. Do you agree?
