Kareena Kapoor’s Hermès Bag Costs 6 Times The Rent Of A Plush South Delhi Villa

A solitaire from Tiffany & Co, jewellery from Harry Winston, a Batmobile, a shirt from Louis Vuitton and the Hermès Himalaya Birkin bag. These are all some of the things we wish we had but can never actually afford. But that doesn’t stop us from marvelling at them when our favourite celebrities flaunt them or googling their prices. Just for fun, of course.

Another such luxury item was spotted being carried by Kareena Kapoor recently when she was at the airport with husband Saif Ali Khan and son Taimur all set for their New Year’s vacation.

We’re not talking about her Alexander Wang sweatshirt (which costs around Rs.13,000) but her Hermès Birkin handbag. It appears to be a Togo 35 cm which retails for $11,900 or approximately Rs. 8.5 lakh.

According to Business Insider, this exclusive handcrafted range of bags has been named after actress Jane Birkin. In 1984, she happened to meet Jean-Louis Dumas (chief executive of Hermès) on a flight and told him of her inability to find a functional leather bag that was also sophisticated. And the rest, as they say, is history.

If you had this kind of money, would you spend it on an accessory or rather rent a villa in a posh locality? It would be enough to pay 6 months’ rent in South Delhi, don’t you think?
