From a pilot popping the question mid-air to a farmer planting corn to spell out ‘Will you marry me?’, we have come across stories of many memorable proposals.
As per a report in India Today, an adorable moment was captured as India and Australia played the 2nd ODI (One Day International) at Sydney’s Cricket Ground. An Indian fan named Dipen Mandaliya, who is a management graduate from Bangalore, chose to propose to his Australian girlfriend Rose Wimbush in the stands in full view of 25,000 people. Check it out:

Sporting the retro India jersey, the guy got down to one knee with the ring in his hand. Commentators and former players Shane Warne and Adam Gilchrist joined in from the commentary box as the crowd eagerly waited for the girl’s response. Gilchrist can be heard urging the girl to say yes, as a visibly stunned Rose looked on.
After a few seconds, she accepted and “She said yes!” flashed on the big screen, and Gilchrist burst out laughing with joy. As the crowd cheered, Glen Maxwell who was fielding at the time, also applauded the gesture.
“(I was) surprised. I had no idea…was overwhelmed completely,” said Rose to an Australia-based radio station, as quoted by Mumbai Mirror. Dipen said, “We have been thinking about it for about a year-and-half. I have been waiting for the right occasion. And I thought this was the right time. She was a bit nervous but I could not think of a better occasion.”
Reportedly, they have been seeing each other for the last one-and-a-half year, and their affair started by discussing the rivalry between India and Australia when it comes to sporting contests.

According to his social media profile, Dipen is a project and reporting analyst at Jetstar Australia. He completed his management degree in Bangalore from St. Joseph’s College of Commerce, and went on to do the aviation and maritime transportation management course at the University of Sydney.
While the Indian cricket team lost the match that day, it’s nice to see a light-hearted moment come out of it. We wish them a happy married life ahead!
