If you think you have started the new year on an unfortunate note, hold on! Mohammed Mutumba, an Imam from Uganda tied the knot in a traditional Nikaah ceremony just two weeks back. The couple, however, could not consummate their marriage as the bride said she was menstruating, reports India Today.
“I was patient and waited for her to be ok,” the husband said. But two weeks later, the newlywed bride was found jumping over a wall in a bid to steal a TV set and clothes from their neighbor’s house. The neighbors thus suspected that the bride wasn’t actually a woman but a man.
Accordingly, a case of theft was filed and she was taken to the police station. Dressed in a hijab and woman’s sandals, the bride reached the police station with her husband. Before sending her behind the bars, a woman police officer was asked to search the suspect when the surprise came in.
“As is normal practice, a female police officer searched the suspect thoroughly before taking ”her” to the cells. But, to the shock of the officer, the suspect had stacked clothes in the bra to hoodwink them that they were breasts,” Isaac Mugera, Kayunga District Criminal Investigations Officer, told News 18.
During the search, cops also found that the suspect had male genitals. He was then interrogated by the police officers when he confessed that he has hoodwinked the Imam for his money.
The Imam who had met the suspect at Kyampisi Mosque recalled their first meeting and said, “I was looking for a woman to marry and when I met a beautiful girl wearing a hijab, I asked her for love and she accepted.”
“She told me we could not have sex until I take bride price to her parents and also exchange marriage vows with her,” he added. The suspect has been held under the charges of theft and impersonation.
We feel sorry for the Imam, what a bad luck! We hope he finds a bride soon.
