Two Hindu, Muslim Women Donate Their Kidneys To Each Other’s Husbands In Mumbai

No matter what religion you believe in, the ultimate preaching of each one of them is indeed, ‘love’ and ‘humanity’. The fact was recently manifested by two women of different faiths who came together to help each other.

Nazreen’s husband, Nadeem a follower of Islam was on dialysis for four years. On the other hand, Satyadevi’s husband Ramswarth, a Hindu, was also suffering from a serious kidney disease which required a transplant to be treated.

Dr. Hemal Shah, the head of nephrology at Saifee Hospital treated both the patients. After finding out that Nazreen’s blood group matched with that of Satyadevi’s husband and vice versa, the doctor proposed the idea of a swap transplant before both the families. After weeks of discussions which followed several other medical tests, the families agreed to his idea.

“Despite dialysis, my father led a painful life for the past two years. The only way out was a transplant. And in matters of life and death, religion doesn’t matter,” Satyadevi’s son told TOI.

“In swap transplants, timing, health, fitness and finances of two families need to run in tandem. Religion is not an issue,” Dr Shah said.

After all, love is all that matters! And, it thrives only on humanity, kindness, and compassion. We gotta move beyond the boundaries of caste, creed, and community to make our loved ones live a long and healthy life, and that’s what these women have done.

Once again, science and love triumphs over superficial religious barriers.
