On March 1, Bengaluru’s famous Rameshwaram Cafe in Whitefield suffered a blast in which 10 people were reportedly injured. The blast occurred around 12:45 pm during the busy lunch hour when the cafe saw a decent crowd from nearby offices. At first, the incident was considered a cylinder explosion but the Founder and Managing Director of Rameshwaram Cafe, Divya Raghavendra Rao said.”All our cylinders are safe inside the kitchen and no lapses have been identified.” Now, the police are investigating whether it was a terrorist attack.
According to Moneycontrol, a 24-year-old techie named Kumar Alankrit narrowly escaped the blast because of an unlikely phone call from his mother. He works in hybrid mode and on most days, he prepares his own lunch at home. But on March 1, he decided to visit Rameshwaram Cafe for lunch.
“After eating my plate of idli, I walked towards the counter to collect my plate of dosa. All of a sudden, my phone rang. Puzzled, I read the name of the caller and it was my mom. I remember feeling that it was unusual for my mom to call me at this time,” he said.
After he answered the call, his mother said that she couldn’t hear him clearly, and so he stepped out of the cafe in search of a better signal.
As soon as he stepped out, he heard an explosion behind him and the entire eatery was covered with smoke.
“There was black smoke everywhere. It felt like I was in a Bollywood movie. It took me a few moments to comprehend what had happened. I quickly ran towards the injured and tried to help them in the way I could,” he said.
After the incident, he got a call back from his mother in which he thanked her and got emotional.
“As soon as I answered the call, I whispered ‘thank you’ to my mother. I was fighting back tears. That moment I realised mothers are really God,” he said.
This is what divine intervention looks like.
