This Powerful Poetry On Fighting The Demon Of Depression Is What India Needs To Hear Today

“On the days, you know, all the art and beauty in the world, is not going to save you.”

Those who are suffering with it, or even those who don’t know that they are but are fighting the battle within, know that there is nothing more dangerous in the world than depression. Just imagine being in a constant state of guilt and low self-worth, being surrounded with everything but still feeling empty inside and having friends and family but still fighting the demon all alone. It is difficult, very difficult and it is about time our society stop making it a taboo and coming together to help the victim.

This poem uploaded by UnErase Poetry is a positive step towards such a moral initiative. Recited by Ishmeet Nagpal, it deals with the all-important issue of asking people to introspect and fight the battle against the ‘demon’, instead of giving up easily. At a time when we are hearing stories like that of Arjun Bhardwaj, the poetry is no less than a silver lining amidst the ominous clouds of grey.
