Abandoned Dog Assists RPF & Warns Passengers Against Illegally Crossing Tracks In Chennai

Traveling via crowded trains can be quite a task, especially when you are in a rush. People often take their safety for granted and simply cross railway tracks instead of taking footbridges. This is very dangerous and can prove fatal. In a recent video, a dog has now come to the rescue of such passengers.

The video, shared by The Hindu, and retweeted by the Ministry of Railways, shows a dog assisting the Railway Protection Force (RPF) police at the Park Town Station, Chennai, by barking and warning commuters who cross railways tracks without using the footbridge.

Chinnaponnu, who was abandoned by its owner, barks at commuters who try to cross the tracks behind the back of the policemen on duty. She alerts the officers so that nobody puts themself at risk in a moment of hurry.

Owing to some problems with the house owner, Chinnaponnu started living at the Railway station 2 years ago. Since then she has become a familiar face to all the commuters and causes no disturbance to anyone. Chinnaponnu has learned from the force’s warning against illegal ways of traveling and acts on the same. She follows none but only people in “khakhi”, reports News 18.

Here is what Twitter has to say about this heart-warming video –

Dogs are not only brave and smart, they are very helpful too. If trained properly their skill sets can be put to great use. We are glad to see more Indian dogs being included in the force.
