Brave Dog Fought To Death With An Intruder Who Tried To Stab Its Owner With A Knife

Dogs are basically humans without the bad qualities. Take the best human on the planet and convert it into an animal, you basically get a dog.

They are brave, helpful, receptive and the best friend you know. Their commitment to their humans is absolute. There are many incidents where snow dogs in the Arctic have died while pulling a sledge just because the owner was in danger in the middle of a storm. Some intelligent dogs have even run to the police to alert them of danger at their home.

That’s why it is no surprise that Lucky, a brave dog fought and saved her human from a knife-wielding intruder who broke into her home with murderous intent and rage.

Sumiti Devendra had adopted Lucky to cope with the pain of the loss of her mother. Some kids had brought Lucky as a pup to Sumiti’s door and left it there. Sumiti adopted Lucky and that was the start of a beautiful friendship.

“After her sudden death, I was lonely and sad when Lucky came into our life.”

It was also a stroke of good fortune.

On April 2, her neighbour Venkatesh Devendra was having a very heated argument with his girlfriend, Jyoti. It escalated into a fight and in rage Venkatesh came out of his home with a knife. Jyoti fled the scene and Venkatesh channelled his rage onto Sumiti the spectator.

Sumiti ran inside but Venkatesh forcefully barged in with the knife. Sensing that her human was in danger, Lucky barked and attacked Venkatesh. Venkatesh stabbed the dog fatally and fled.

The reason Lucky was not able to completely overpower Venkatesh may have been because it was only 13 months old. Had Lucky been a fully grown dog, it would have been Venkatesh in the hospital.

The police arrested Venkatesh but killing a dog is not the same as killing a human. Although Sumiti did feel the same pain of loss when Lucky breathed his last.

“I named him Lucky as he was indeed very lucky for us. I have lost a family member… He was everything to me.”

RIP Lucky.
