Man Recites A Soulful Poem On The Real Essence Of ‘Woman’

poem

The word ‘woman’ has so many other names. Traditionally, they were referred to everything that depicted positivity. Maate (mother), Laxmi (wealth), Devi (Goddess), Jag Janani (mother of the universe), Shakti (power) etc. Despite all these strong words associated with womanhood, women are still considered to be weaker than men. They are still made to feel like they need protection from their male counterparts. That whatever they do, however high they soar, they will never be as important as men. After all, it’s a man’s world, right?

Wrong. The narrative is taking a turn now and it is about time we set the status quo straight.

‘Devi’ – a soulful poem, written and performed by Prateek Singh for Spill Poetry, takes us back to our roots and reminds us everything that a woman stands for. His words take us to a state of trance and reinstate how everything serene, peaceful, just, powerful and joyful is always feminine. I will be taking away the essence of this piece if I elaborate any further. Hear it from the artist himself.

It’s International Women’s Day today. While we send love and wishes to celebrate women for being themselves today, the battle still continues. But with men like these who understand the real essence of womanhood and weave it into such impactful words, it won’t be long before we get to wake up in a world where men and women are truly equal, free of contempt and full of harmony.
