UP Advocate Files Case Against Saif For Saying ‘Adipurush’ Will Portray Raavan As ‘Humane’

Ever since actor Saif Ali Khan commented that his next film ‘Adipurush’ will make the mythological character Raavan look ‘humane’ and justify his abduction of Sita, he has been receiving incessant backlash.

However, understanding the seriousness of the issue, the ‘Sacred Games’ actor withdrew his statement and apologized for hurting the sentiments of people. But actor Mukesh Khanna did not approve of his apology. Like him, there were several others who weren’t convinced even after Saif retracted his statement.

In a recent development, one Himanshu Srivastava, a civil court advocate from Uttar Pradesh, has filed a case against Saif and director Om Raut for hurting religious sentiments, reported Hindustan Times.

Himanshu, a believer of Sanatan Dharma, said in his petition that traditionally, Lord Ram is considered a symbol of good, while Raavan is viewed as evil. He added that Saif’s interview is a negative portrayal of “faith in Sanatan Dharma.” The advocate also listed the names of people who saw the interview and claimed that their religious sentiments were hurt too.

His plea will be heard in the court of the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) in the Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh on December 23.

Well, it’s only a matter of time before we know whether Saif’s film will, without any controversies, make it to the theatres near you.
