Saif Says His Film ‘Adipurush’ Will Justify Raavan’s Abduction Of Sita, Faces Backlash

Saif Ali Khan has been making headlines recently because of his statements and interviews, many of which have managed to stir controversies. However, his most recent statement on his upcoming film ‘Adipurush’ has left a bitter taste amongst much of the Indian audience.

According to Hindustan Times, Saif Ali Khan stated that ‘Adipurush’ will be showing a more “humane” side of Raavan, the character of which he is supposed to play. He went on to add that the film will attempt to “justify” Raavan’s abduction of Sita.

“It’s interesting to play a demon king, less strictures in that. But we will make him humane, up the entertainment quotient, justify his abduction of Sita and the war with Ram as revenge for what was done to his sister Surpanakha by Lakshman, who cut off his nose.”

This has started a massive riot online. Not only did it hurt several people’s sentiments but also many are raising an important question, “How can we even justify the abduction of a woman?”
