Photography/video recording is permitted in metro premises, including metro trains, for bonafide passengers in public areas for personal use and strictly prohibited for commercial use or publication. The act of photography shouldn’t infringe privacy of co-passengers at any time.
This is one of the strict rules followed by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation. Read the last line carefully again – The act of photography shouldn’t infringe privacy of co-passengers at any time.
This should be reminded to people who photograph or capture a video of co-passengers on the metro. In recent times, many tweets and posts on social media show pictures of couples having an intimate moment in the metro. They are shamed, moral-policed and character assassinated online and for what? For displaying affection to their partners?
This happens in a society where people walk past a man stabbing and stoning a woman to death in the middle of the road but publicly kissing is where they draw the line to their silence.
A user on Twitter named Bhagat S Chingsubam posted a picture of a couple kissing allegedly inside the Delhi metro. He tagged Delhi Police and the metro rail authorities and asked them to take action ASAP.

However, several people online reprimanded him for recording the couple against their knowledge and consent. They reminded him that it is a crime, unlike public display of affection. Have a look:
This is not the way to tell the world that you aren’t getting laid

If it’s consensual, what’s your problem, dude!?! Let them be…

Itne bhi jealous na ho bhai… Kiss karna kab se crime ho gya..😒😒

Just f***** let them be if it’s consensual. More Indians get outraged by consensual making out in public than by women & girls getting abused, harassed, and assaulted in public. Absolutely warped social norms. https://t.co/1nWZGZeaJo

People in Dehli will literally walk past a man stabbing a woman to death like its not their business but PDA is where they draw the line https://t.co/L6apKqGX1P

Few weeks ago a woman was horribly murdered in the streets of Delhi and none of the passersby gave a f. But today a couple that are kissing out of love consensually is causing outrage?! Wtf? https://t.co/06rPw4IO4r

what does delhi metro have in plan to stop incels from taking pics or recording videos without anyone’s consent like it’s astonishing how ppl see love and they start seething with hatred immediately https://t.co/un7H06A2VK

There is nothing wrong in Consensual PDA. The only ridiculous thing is you recording and making it public.
Delhi police should Jail you if Counter FIR is filled by this couple. https://t.co/EhygR8uDUV

People really need to stop moral policing couples displaying harmless PDA.
