‘Cane Sticks For Beating Kids’ Being Sold Online, Leaves Desi People Divided

You must have heard the saying Spare the rod, spoil the child‘. While in many countries, hitting children to discipline them is illegal, it is still prevalent in many desi households. From the occasional flying chappal to the danda, desi parents have proved time and again that even seemingly harmless objects can be turned into a weapon.

Speaking of which, a Reddit user recently shared a picture of how ‘cane sticks for beating kids’ is being sold online.

At first, I thought this was a joke. But then I did some digging.

So, when I hit the search bar and typed ‘cane sticks for’, I saw this.

And then the search results led to…

I mean…WHAT?!

Many desi kids reacted to the picture by sharing memories of being hit by their parents and teachers during their childhood.

Some also pointed out how in many schools, hitting students has become a strict no-no. On the other hand, there are still institutes that are old-school.

But most importantly, many pointed out how this is basically child abuse.
