Let’s just be real, Indians have pretty much taken over Canada. Especially our Sikh brothers and sisters. To be honest, it’s just the tadka that Canada needs to spice things up. And they seem pretty happy with the Sikh community among them. Remember how Justin Trudeau tried to woo us with his bhangra moves when he was here in February? While his enthusiastic leg shaking may have failed to impress some (boo!), I’m sure even they wouldn’t be able to stop themselves from cheering for these two I’m going to tell you about.
Jagmeet Singh, leader of Canada’s New Democratic Party (NDP) and Navdeep Bains, Canada’s current minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development are also two of their prospective prime ministerial candidates.
Jagmeet Singh had won the Internet’s heart with his calm and composure when he was severely heckled at by a racist woman at a campaign event. It’s safe to say that Jagmeet and Navdeep are two of the most recognizable Sikh political figures in Canada right now.
Recently, these two came together at a fundraising event organised by Seva Food Bank, which is a service run by Sikhs to ensure food security for low-income families.
What made the event interesting though, was when these two prominent political figures, promised to have a dance off if the event achieved its goal of approx ₹ 26 lakh in donations.

And guess, what? The target was achieved and the two kept their word!
Jagmeet Singh took the lead with some traditional bhangra moves, and Navdeep Bains showed off some running man moves along with bhangra, to thunderous applause.

Do you think we could persuade our politicians to do something like this? A dance off between some of them might cool them down a bit tbh. Not a bad idea, is it?
