Bullet Owner Gets A 5.5 Ft-long Challan For Violating 101 Traffic Rules In 11 Months

Just a couple of days ago, a video showing a man escaping a speeding vehicle by an inch sparked debate on negligent driving and people not following common traffic regulations in the country. Well, sadly, this isn’t an isolated case. Every day scores of people are caught violating traffic regulations that are put in place for their own safety. Hence, to hold them responsible cops serve them challans.

This man’s case is no different. According to Times Of India, a 25-year-old man hailing from Bengaluru was booked for violating 101 traffic rules in the past 11 months. The man, identified as L Rajesh Kumar, was liable to pay a hefty sum of Rs 57,200 in fines, making him the highest penalty payer in the city.

Adugodi traffic cops came to know about his ‘golmaal’ when they stopped him near Wipro Junction in Koramangala-I Block on Wednesday for jumping a traffic signal.

On checking his record, they discovered that six tickets have already been raised against Rajesh since morning. On digging deep, they found that he also has another 94 cases pending on his name between September 2019 to August 2020. Surprisingly, he hasn’t paid fine for any of the challans.

The Royal Enfield Bullet owner was instructed to clear the dues. His vehicle was seized and he was handed a 5.5 ft-long challan.

“If he fails to pay before Friday, we will refer the matter to the court. Then he’ll have to approach the court, pay the fine and get his vehicle released,” said an investigation officer.

Rajesh has requested for three days’ time to clear his dues. Apparently, he bought his vehicle in mid-2019. As informed by cops, “More than 60 of the violations were committed post-April this year. Since there were fewer cops on the road due to Covid-19, Rajesh never wore a helmet. Forty-one cases of riding without a helmet were booked against him.”

Let’s hope that after paying the huge sum of money as fine, Rajesh will realize that traffic rules are NOT meant to be broken.
