After a while, every relationship goes through a phase where you probably have nothing new to talk about, or a new restaurant to try out, or a new place to hang out. Usually, after the ‘honeymoon’ phase gets over, it’s easy to get bored, not of each other, but in general.
Hence, one particular couple decided to take a DNA test and learn about their ancestors to bring the “spark” alive! However, things took quite a drastic turn after that.
The guy posted about the incident on Reddit (now deleted), talking about how his girlfriend broke up with him after receiving the test results.
He wrote, “A month ago my girlfriend and I thought it would be fun to do the DNA test offered by Ancestry.com to learn more about our family tree.”
He said that there was just too much information and the two were having a lot of fun going through them in the beginning.
“There were a few names in my family tree that I did not recognise and after doing some research it turns out that one of my ancestors was an infamous serial killer”, he said.
The guy completely lost it after he found out and asked his parents about it. Turns out his family knew about it and they had tried their best to disassociate with the killer, sources revealed.
While this was already a big blast for the guy, he had another one coming from his girlfriend.
“(She) broke up with me because she could not deal with the fact that I’m related to a serial killer. She told me that she loves me very much, but explained that the fact I had the same blood as someone so evil has made her look at me differently”, he said.
After he asked for advice on how he could win his girlfriend back, netizens joined hands to give the guy some free counselling:
She was probably looking for a reason to end the relationship.
Maybe someday in the near future, he will think about her and laugh.
Breaking up is probably her go-to coping mechanism.
What if she learnt his family had diabetes?
