Sushant Singh Rajput’s suicide case took a different turn when his father, Krishna Kumar Singh, filed an FIR against the late actor’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty for allegedly pressurising, manipulating, and confining him for financial gains. Since then, Rhea has been on the receiving end of a lot of flak from people online.
However, not just Rhea Chakraborty, but the entire Bengali community, especially Bengali women are being trolled online by people who are stereotyping them as “gold-diggers”, “dominating”, “manipulative”, and ones who ruin men’s careers.
Have a look at some of the deplorable tweets trolling Bengali women here:

Bengal is a f***d up state. The society there is completely matriarchal. Husbands are just puppets/ chabhi wala khilauna. All decisions are taken up by woman. Anyone who disagree?

Not just Bengalis, but good people on the internet have stood up against such insensitive trolling. Many highlighted how generalising an entire community based on the actions of one person, allegations of which still haven’t been proved in the court of law, is nothing but disgraceful. Have a look:
Seeing a lot of sweeping generalisation on the TL about Bengali women. Here’s more- bengali women are not docile, most of them are fiercely independent and opinionated. Not everyone can handle it, i understand. People are free to comment but we are unapologetic and proud 🙂
— Initnamees 🇮🇳 (@SeemantiniBose) July 31, 2020
by "dominating" madam means independent, free-willed, opinionated, not cowering before men. Bengali women can be the sweetest people ever but sharp as hell if you try to come at them. take our names out of your generalising misogynistic trash mouth. https://t.co/Cv9mLPwB6l

Also people like these are equally idiotic as the ones generalising Bengali women👇.
What's even the need to bring region, religion or any such thing in this matter?

My mother is Bengali..all women in my family is Bengali. We are very proud of women in my family. You and all those tweeting this crap have lost your mind. Such sweeping generalization to women by women is pathetic. pic.twitter.com/UpcON75CDs

I don't care if Rhea Chakraborty is guilty or not. Different issue.
Enough of using propaganda and imaginary narratives to defame Bengal and Bengalis.@aajtak should face charges of defamation and the editor should be booked under the "Anti-Superstition and Black Magic Act". pic.twitter.com/PdDiMgh8UI

Just because of #RheaChakraborty people just can't generalise all the bengali girls…there r a lott of bengali girls who want justice for SSR….being a Bengali girl can't be a crime rather being such mean brutal is a crime…there is nothing to do with being a Bengali 😇

I don't agree to this point. Please stop generalising bong girls as dominating and cruel. https://t.co/6aZflTciuX

The amount of brain dead racist assholes under this tweets ffs
Horrible piece of shit humans generalising a single freaking case https://t.co/QaMSrtTScz
— Shoe Bunny Toe (@Bongpandaa) July 31, 2020
Where are we as a society where one #RheaChakroborty is used to paint the entire Bengali community a certain shade? We have our issues, but to brand strong, educated, opinionated women as dominating gold-diggers is appalling. So are women only to be docile trophies at home? https://t.co/NcUxKGwwsl
— BS_Bandit (@bandit_bs) July 31, 2020
Bengali girls are dominating because having an opinion, ability to speak one’s own mind and taking a stand against the wrongdoers are some examples of domination. https://t.co/ft90SXJhoK

LMAO.. RAISE ABOVE YOUR REGIONAL POLITICS IDIOT.
Atleast think about #SSR family.. They have lost their son and you are preaching this sh!t.

Blaming all Bengali girls for the deeds of Rhea Chakravarti is as bad as saying
"All men are dogs"
Beware before generalizing.

Trashing the entire bengali community girls for Rhea who didn't even brought up in bengal and has no idea abt the culture over here is the most foolish thing. If u r using a 4G phone and associating ur thinking wd stigmas around then I can feel pity for you.+

It is nothing but shameful to use a person’s alleged ill actions to stereotype and shame an entire community. At a time when we are hit by a global crisis, struggling with mental health and the idea of an uncertain future, we should only be kind towards each other instead of spreading hate.
