It is extremely sad how the country of India has turned out to be a thriving ground for brutal crimes such as rape, sexual abuse, and harassment, in recent times. And with these cases increasing at an alarming rate instead of decreasing, safety for women in this country remains a crumbling illusion.
What’s even more shameful is the fact that these crimes are often carried out in the name of ‘God’. After the horrific chapter of Dora Chief, Gurmeet Ram Rahim, we have another so-called ‘spiritual leader’, who has been found guilty of raping numerous women.
Baba Amarpuri, a Mahant at Baba Balaknath Temple in Fatehabad’s Tohana, was arrested by police on Friday after videos of him allegedly raping women made rounds online.
Going by the real name of Amarveer, Baba’s face was exposed when a relative of the accused approached the police with a CD of the clips.
According to NDTV, the 60-year-old Baba has been found responsible for raping at least 120 women. The police have received 120 clips, which were shot on his cellphone by Baba himself and had different women in each. Speaking about the same, the police said,

Reportedly, two victims have got in touch with the police and expressed their wish to record their statements against the Baba. Amarpuri has been booked under various sections of IPC.
He was also booked in another rape case on the complaint of a woman who accused him of sexually assaulting her inside the temple, nine months back. These ‘pseudo-babas’ are nothing but a disgrace to humanity and a severe threat to the society. We sincerely hope that his atrocious crime gets the deserved punishment and the justice is served to the victims.
