A few days ago, you witnessed the horrific news of a school teacher in Assam posting intimate sexually provocative pictures with a minor student
The teacher, Faizuddin Laskar, is allegedly a serial offender who has a history of molesting women. Even after getting his fingers severed by an angry mob who caught him sexually assaulting a woman a few years earlier, this pervert hadn’t stopped.
After the pictures went viral on social media, people started questioning the inaction of the state government and the police

The good news is that the offender has finally been arrested. The sad news is that it took a social media outcry & a repeat incident of major sexual assault to shake the sleeping police and ministry into action.

We sincerely hope that the minor is provided with proper care and counsel as such incidents can have a traumatizing effect on her tender mind.

A minor can’t provide consent, hence this is a heinous crime. A minor cannot consent because it requires an adult level of understanding. A minor does not appreciate the consequences of the actions & the full scope of the decision put before them. Therefore, even if a minor does provide consent, her consent itself means nothing.
