Aamir Khan Plans To Quit Acting For Being A Full-Time Filmmaker Soon

Thugs of Hindostan may have tanked at the box-office, c’mon we all saw the memes. But with a spate of hits from ‘3 Idiots’ to ‘Dangal’ Aamir Khan proved his mettle as an actor and then some.

So it comes as a surprise that one of the finest actors on the block may soon throw in the towel. It’s direction on the horizon for Mister Perfectionist.

The 54-year-old veteran first dabbled in filmmaking with the heartrending story of dyslexic Ishaan Awasthi in ‘Taare Zameen Par’. Few realise that it was Khan’s directorial debut.

When probed about his filmmaking aspirations, he shared, “I am inclined towards filmmaking and I coincidentally directed ‘Taare Zameen Par’. I have been in love with filmmaking and acting and I can’t alienate the two but what I can say right now is that I began my career as an actor and it excites me,” the star said to reporters on Thursday.

“The moment I become a full-fledged filmmaker I will stop acting. Right now, I don’t want to stop acting, that’s why I am holding back the director inside me,” Khan revealed.

Wondering when he plans to kick his direction aspirations into high gear?

Aamir’s response is somewhat evasive. “I had not thought at what pace I will make films. Usually, people make films with their production houses for business. That is not our first agenda. Creativity is our agenda. Till the time we don’t get a good script, we don’t make it into a film.”

The world is his canvas, as he speaks of working in foreign films-

“For me, as an actor, what is important is what the film is all about and what it is trying to say. It should excite me as an actor. It is not important that it should have a social message,” he clarifies.

“It does not matter which part of the world it originates from. If someone from Japan or Africa offers me something and if I get excited, I will do it. But I don’t have a fascination for Hollywood,” Aamir added.

But hold up for the actor will take over the silver screen soon enough in ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’– his next flick. We can’t wait to see him play Tom Hanks in the official adaptation of ‘Forrest Gump’. Can you?
