After Losing Grandfather To Road Accident, UP Woman Installs 1500 Free Red Lights On Cycles

City roads are terribly unsafe for people to ride a cycle at night. There have been numerous hit-and-run cases where cyclists have been killed because the drivers of speeding cars couldn’t spot them from a distance. Between January to May 2022, 17 cyclists were killed in road accidents in Delhi, reported TOI.

According to Indian Express, a young woman named Khushi was spotted installing red lights on cycles of passersby in Lucknow. In a video shared by IAS officer Awanish Sharan, we get to know that Khushi had lost her grandfather to a road accident. Her grandfather was riding a cycle and the driver of the car responsible for his death couldn’t spot him.

So now, she stands on the side of the road with a placard in hand that reads, “Cycle pe light lagao #Lucknow #Khushi”, and installs red lights on the cycles of those passing by. The light blinks after she switches it on. She has managed to install 1500 free red lights.

“So nobody loses a loved one like she did! What a great way to remember him!” the text on the video read.
