We cannot possibly repay our parents’ debt. All those years filled with sacrifices, hard work, and unquestioning devotion towards their kids is something that we cannot match. But what we can do is gift them little moments of joy and fulfil their lifelong wishes.
For example, one guy named Gaurav Sabnis, who is settled in the US and is a Professor, took to Twitter to narrate how he gifted his parents the experience of flying business-class after being able to afford to do so.
First time booking business class tickets for parents to visit us here from India.
Feeling extra grown up.
Finally able to afford a flight in which parents can stretch out and sleep. Mom dad were still like "kharcha kashala ugich" but I put my foot down. 😍🤗

In his heartwarming thread, he expressed how excited he is for his mother to have the experience for the first time ever.
I’m especially excited for Mom to experience a long haul international business class 777 journey for the first time. She finds joy in the smallest things in life. She’s gonna be like an excited kid when she lands.
Dad will be like, “Bed. Good. Wake me up in New York 😴”

He also highlighted the many problems women face while travelling.
Mom is a hardened traveler. Dad is a retd highway bridge engineer. So from her 20s, she has done all kinds of rough, bumpy, even dangerous journeys, often with us 2 kids in tow, with a smile on her face. So she finds even economy class air travel full of things to be happy about.

For example, the availability of washrooms for women to visit while travelling on the road is scanty. Hence, many avoid drinking a lot of water.
I still remember when I was a kid, I used to be confused about why my mom barely drank any water during our 16-24 hour bumpy bus rides between Pune & Indore. While I guzzled water like anything.
Only after growing up did I realize why many Indian women have to do that.

As a dude, whenever the bus stopped (just twice or 3 times), I could and can just run to the nearest secluded corner and pee. My mom, like any woman, doesn’t have that luxury in India. And absolutely didn’t in the 80s & 90s when things were even worse toilets wise on highways.

In contrast to India, his mother found clean washrooms at gas stations while travelling in the US. And so, she could drink water whenever she wanted. Little joys!
First time mom visited US (almost 15 years ago!) she loved how we could take any random exit off the highway, go to any random gas station & the toilet was still generally clean usable safe. So she could drink water whenever she liked.
Small joys.

Due to the pandemic, Gaurav’s original plan of travelling business class with his parents didn’t work out. But eventually, things fell into place.
So I’ve been wanting to have her experience business class travel for a couple of years.
Original plan was for me to fly over for her birthday in April 2020, then bring her & dad back with me biz class. So I could also participate in her joy.
But y’all know April 2020.

Even if 2 years late, and without me next to her, I’m so happy she’ll get to enjoy a long flight sleeping horizontally.
And both her & I recognize how incredibly fortunate and privileged we are to even be able to do this.

Several people resonated with his story and shared their own experiences too! Have a look:
I cdnt possibly love this more even if I try. Parents need to be pampered to whatever extent we can afford to. Now that my mom os dead I find solace and joy in the intl travel she did with us and the flights n biz class seats all the way.

🤗 my mom is going to travel abroad first time with me in few days, & I told her be open to changes/ cancellations of flight last minute, that’s not in my control. & She told in that case will I have a seat to sit, will there be toilets to use, I told YES.
