This 81-Year-Old Rajasthani Man Failed To Clear Class 10 Exams Again…For The 46th Time!

“Grit and determination are the building blocks of success.”

We have heard this advice so many times. But, wait till you hear the very definition of it. Shiv Charan, an 81-year-old man from Alwar district, Rajasthan has failed in his forty-sixth attempt at clearing his Class X exam under the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE).

He failed to clear his exam, against his expectations but this time he passed in one subject. Where each subject is marked out of 100, Shiv Charan scores are as follows: Hindi-3, English-0, Mathematics-9 and Sanskrit-7 and Social Science-34.

But, last year he had failed in all subjects. Last year, his scores were as follows: Hindi- 27, English-4, Social Science-0, Mathematics-8 and Sanskrit-7.

The most important question. WHY is he hell bent on doing this? Well, Shiv Charan had made a promise during his youth that only after clearing his tenth standard exam, he would get married. And now that he is past that age, he dreams of setting up a world record. In his words- “Ab shaadi ka chance to hai nahi, isliye ab vishva record mein apna naam darj karane ke liye pariksha de raha hun.”

He has problems because of his age- his diminishing eyesight and deteriorating capacity. But that has not deterred his spirits. “Next year I will work even harder,” he promises.

And you thought that age was an obstacle for spirits to soar high. His obsession to get through is praiseworthy indeed!
