Railway Cleaner Who Returned A Lost Macbook To Its Owner Has Restored My Faith In Humanity

Mumbai is, indeed, the city of dreams. But it is also a city of immense struggles. And what signifies struggle better than Mumbai Local trains. Getting on, finding space, keeping track of the stations, and getting off finally – it all can be a harrowing experience.

And for writer Amborish Roychoudhary, it got worse. While travelling in a CST-bound local, he got off, forgetting his bag with his Macbook Air in the train.

Amborish enlisted the help of the Railway Police, but they came back empty-handed after searching for the trains. Amborish took to Twitter, asking for help for anyone who could find it for him.

But no help came.

Then, Viresh Narsingh Kele, a Railways Housekeeper, who cleans and washes trains at the carshed in Panvel, paid Amborish a visit all the way to his house – with his bag and laptop intact!

Amborish posted on Facebook, in praise of Viresh, with a few pictures of him.

“I consider myself an atheist. But this man, Viresh Narsingh Kele, he restored my faith – in a manner of speaking. He IS God. Viresh came to my doorstep and returned my lost backpack and Macbook Air. He is a Housekeeper with the Railways, and bumped into the bag while cleaning the train at the car shed at Panvel. Opened my laptop, spotted my name. Found my address in a discarded envelope inside the bag, and traveled all the way. We became friends. Viresh refused to accept any money whatsoever. And I might’ve been foolish to offer it. The Railway Police “couldn’t find” my bag after “searching through” trains, but my God handed it over to me. Also – I love you, Mumbai. Over the course of one night, my world was demolished and rebuilt. All over again.”

He tweeted about Viresh being the good samaritan and also refusing money, and instead urged Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu to reward him on Amborish’s behalf.

Others also joined in to ask Mr. Prabhu to reward him.

This just goes on to prove that all is not lost in this world, and faith can be restored in humanity.

We salute you, Viresh!
