Journalist’s Experience Of Watching ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’ With ‘Educated’ Jerks Is Sickening

I’m not getting paid to say this but if you haven’t watched ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’ yet, then you’re missing out on everything that is imperative to the society we live in. Apart from the fabulous star cast–namely Ratna Pathak and Konkona Sen Sharma, Aahana Kumra and Plabita Borthankur–and their power-packed performances, the movie has somehow managed to show what the patriarchal society is really scared of- an opinionated woman!

What else can explain the outrage? What else can possibly explain the earlier ban on it for being ‘lady-oriented? The regressive/sexist approach of the CBFC, et all?

But hear hear, if you thought the wise men at CBFC aka the guardians of the galaxy are the only hurdle on the path to progress and women empowerment, you couldn’t be more wrong. If you aren’t convinced, well, you will be after you read this.

Rachita Prasad, a Mumbai-based journalist, recently had the chance to watch ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’ and her horrid experience at a posh, upscale mall will leave you perplexed. She tweeted her angst out and it reads, ‘This is NOT a movie review…’

‘They looked like us.’ Aren’t you scared? Because I am. I am petrified at the thought that these mall-going, brand-wearing liberals, who cry foul in parades, are capable of mocking progress in its face when they sit in a dark room! If this isn’t a wake-up call, I don’t know what is!
