Star Without The Oscar: Reasons Why Johnny Depp Deserves It

Quirky and unconventional! Those are the best words that describe Johnny Depp the best! Those eyes, the jaw line, incredible good looks, such creativity, his smile; I don’t think my list of praises for him is going to end! He has a knack for portraying characters that are out-of-the-box and one requires extreme talent and finesse to make people fall in love with those characters! And yet, we wonder why has he never won an Oscar?

1. That perfect portrayal of Gilbert Grape..you stunned us with a character so simple and yet so complex, Johnny Depp!

If you haven’t seen this movie, you probably have missed mind-numbing performances by Johnny Depp and DiCaprio. It’s a very simple movie, to be honest. And people have lauded DiCaprio’s work a lot. But, in my opinion, it must have been very difficult to understand the character of Gilbert; the struggles he faced in raising his mentally challenged brother and in making the family co-exist. His heart torn between his responsibilities and his love life. Depp has so smoothly played his part that it’s hard to find a flaw!

 

2. The silent-screen star! You certainly won our hearts by this off-beat performance in Donnie Brasco!

A Johnny Depp fan can simply not miss the movie! It is a mob movie like no other. The character of Donnie Brasco could possibly be played by none other than Johnny Depp and it’s such a pleasure to watch Al Pacino and Johnny Depp, the duo that you fall in love with!

 

3. Only Johnny could make you fall in love with The Worst Director of all Time! Ed Wood was perfection!

A film on The Worst Director of all time and Depp does absolute justice to it. He was perfect for the role since he had to portray a person who very much loved his work and didn’t care about what reviews or criticisms he evoked! It is a touching comedy you’d love to watch today! Depp was nominated for several awards for his incredible performance.

 

4. Who could’ve done a movie as strange as Edward Scissorhands?! Johnny Depp. And only him! You are as uncommon as Edward!

This definitely comes under my list of weirdly amazing movies. I cried my eyes out after watching this movie. This beautiful, sad movie like a fairy tale is a true piece of art and Depp doesn’t fail to amaze us playing the wonderful Edward Scissorhands. The movie will get you to think about the deep philosophical lessons of life! And I don’t know how you do it Depp, but no one delves into the character deeper than you do!

 

5. Finding Neverland made us forget who you actually are! And we can never forget J.M. Barrie because you portrayed him!

Mr. Depp, I swear to you, absolutely nobody could have slipped into the role of J.M. Barrie better than you did. And I can say this because within a few minutes, I had forgotten that it was you on the screen. This is one movie which stands out from the rest and you’d want to watch it over and over again. So this birthday, let’s just watch this movie and remind ourselves of what a stupendous actor he is!

 

6. That sass and that swag! You certainly ‘blow’ our minds off!

Get ready to have your minds blown if you haven’t watched this movie. Based on cocaine smuggler George Jung’s life, Johnny Depp so spectacularly enters into the character; he is ruled by greed, pride, style and utter desperation! You’ll always keep wondering how adaptable an actor Depp is.

 

7. No other actor could have taken up this savage journey of ‘Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas’!

Strange. Blatantly unique. One of the finest work of Johnny Depp. Taking obscure roles and doing them like a boss, you seem like one of those men who are never scared of taking risks. You’ll always be immortal!

 

8. What a come back! You made Whitey Bulger unforgettable! And that look…unrecognizable!

Goodness. Look at Johnny Depp. He just melts into the character of James “Whitey” Bulger. He plays the infamous criminal so cold, calculative and calm. Every inch of his goes on to speak volumes about his character that he disappears into! We wish the movie had worked! But, It’s a must-watch for all Johnny Depp fans for we have eyes only for him!

 

9. Captain Jack Sparrow…you drove us crazy and since we know we are crazy, that makes us not crazy. Right?

There is no way I could have left out this one from the list. Johnny Depp is the king of eccentricity. His idea of making his character so eccentric could’ve gotten him fired! But he stuck to his version of Jack Sparrow and won millions of hearts!

Happy Birthday Johnny Depp, we love you. And just like you, we don’t care whether you receive an Oscar or not, but it hurts that you do not have one!
