After A Career-Defining Knock, An Emotional Yuvraj Singh Pours His Heart Out

To say that Yuvraj Singh is a man with a lion’s heart would be an understatement. The legendary batsman who won countless matches and tournaments for India yet again proved that you can’t write him off just now. By scoring his highest ever ODI score of 150 against England at Cuttack and taking India to a thumping victory, Yuvraj Singh has given a fitting reply to his critics with the bat.

In an interview after the game yesterday, Yuvraj said that after defeating cancer, there came a moment when he thought that it was time to hang his boots for good.

“When I came back from cancer it was hard work. I was not performing and after being dropped I thought (about) whether I wanted to continue or not.”

The stalwart of Indian batting line-up added that he did not let distractions from outside play with his mind and only focused on the game.

“I don’t read newspapers, neither do I watch television. I don’t like to put too much pressure on myself. I had a good run in the Ranji Trophy, so was just waiting to make it count big.”

Yuvi’s mammoth partnership of 256 runs with Dhoni was the highlight of India’s innings yesterday. The two giants of Indian cricket turned back the clock a decade with their match-winning knocks. Talking about batting with MS, he said,

“MS and I we have previously won quite a number of matches for India. He has been an experienced guy and it was great to see the way he put it to use.”

He did not forget to give credit to India’s new skipper, Virat Kohli for backing him up when everything was going south for him.

“Virat showed a lot of faith and belief in me. 150 is my highest.”

While other players find it hard to make a comeback in the team after an injury, Yuvraj Singh showcased his finesse at the highest level after fighting a deadly disease like cancer. After a blistering inning yesterday, Yuvraj has shown that his best is yet to come.
