Hindi Speaking Kiwi YouTuber Gives A Rare Tour Of Crossing The Border From India To Pakistan

India and Pakistan, despite having a lot in common, haven’t seen eye to eye in a very long time. In fact, many Indians have an inexplicable distaste towards our neighbouring country. We’ve all heard slogans of “go back to Pakistan” and the term “Pakistani” thrown around as insults, at celebrities on certain occasions. Yes, the situation is tense at the border and yes, we have lost a lot of brave men because of it.

Even with the advent of the Internet, and the accessibility to know a lot more about each other, we still harbour fear and apprehension. Why?

This is what YouTuber Karl Rock set out to find out. Karl is a Hindi speaking expat and his travel goal is to visit all 36 states & union territories in India plus India before partition.

In the bid to achieve his travel goals, he travelled to Pakistan from India last week along the Wagah border. He vlogged his experience of crossing over and meeting security personnel on both sides of the border.

He starts off his vlog with a monologue that explains Indians’ perception about going to Pakistan and vice verse.

He says:

“There’s that fear of going to each other’s country on both sides of the border.”

The vlog takes us through the border and into Pakistan where he engages in conversation with the soldiers at the immigration checking.

The friendly banter that follows will make you wonder if we really are so different from our neighbours.

Let’s admit it, most of us, Indians don’t have Pakistan on our travel bucket list. (at least for now, don’t know about the future) So let’s thank Karl for taking us on a virtual tour of crossing the border. We now know their guards like ‘fun’ too.
