Kind-Hearted Woman Brings Home 97 Stray Dogs & Shelters Them From Hurricane Dorian

Hurricane Dorian, a category 5 tropical storm, has been wreaking havoc in the Bahamas. The torrential rain and strong wind gusts have resulted in the flooding of streets, uprooting of trees and the destruction of buildings (be it hospitals or homes). There is a severe shortage of food, medicines and clean drinking water with the US Coast Guard working round the clock to help victims.

Amidst all this destruction, a woman named Chella Phillips brought home 97 dogs from the streets into her home. She is providing them with a refuge from the hurricane and taking special care of the ones that are ill or scared.

Happy rascals.

HuffPost quoted the Bahamas resident saying, “It was either leave the dogs on the street to fend for themselves…or do something about it. I just want these dogs to be safe. I could care less about the dog poop and pee in my house.”

Chella runs an NGO for the welfare of dogs by the name ‘The Voiceless Dogs Of Nassau’ and is instrumental in providing them with food and medical assistance with the aid of rescue agencies. But this time, she welcomed these abandoned furry babies into her own home.

In a Facebook post, she revealed, “97 dogs are inside my house and 79 of them are inside my master bedroom. It has been insane since last night, poop and piss non stop but at least they are respecting my bed and nobody has dared to jump in. We have barricaded the refuge and nobody is outside, the music is playing in all directions of the house and the AC is blowing for them.”

Thank you Chella Phillips, for restoring our faith in humanity and teaching us the importance of compassion for animals.
