Do you believe in spirits and ghosts? Do you think that they are around us and we can communicate with them? Do you think we can befriend a ghost, even marry them? While you might think these are bizarre questions, wait till you hear the extraordinary story of a woman who once got married to a ghost!
Back in 2016, Amanda Teague, a 47-year-old woman from Northern Ireland, got married to a 300-year-old ghost. She claimed that the ghost was in fact a spirit of a Haitian pirate called Jack who lived during the 1700s and died after being executed for “thieving on the high seas” – a typical Jack Sparrow.
According to sources, the two had a regular marriage and had sex like normal couples, though I have no idea how that works. However, two weeks into the marriage, Amanda started facing health problems.
“I started to get reoccurring perianal abscesses and I was suffering from cirrhosis”, she said.
She then went to people who had earlier communicated with the pirate spirit but was assured by them that he wouldn’t harm her.
But she received a major red flag concerning their relationship after her dog Toby died. Although she knew that Toby’s death was inevitable, she had asked Jack to keep him alive until she dies, so that they can all die together.
“But Toby wouldn’t go to Jack, he was incredibly aggressive and wouldn’t go near him. In the end, he had to go to my mother because he just didn’t want to be near him. Animals are quite intuitive about people so this was a big red flag to me”, she said.
She claimed that after having sex with Jack, she would have swellings on her body. Hence, she decided to cut off on all the sex and guess what? Her swellings improved. But only till after 3 weeks when they had sex again, and her swellings returned which got her worried.
Later, she had to be hospitalised due to a crucial case of sepsis and undergo surgery. For that, she had to take off her wedding ring. And as the mighty would have it, the connection between the two was lost and she felt like a whole new person after the surgery.
After connecting the dots, Amanda resolved to break things off with the spirit. But he didn’t take the break-up so well. Instead, he threatened to kill her.
“It was terrifying seeing a completely different side to the lovely spirit I had seen before”, she said.
But going against all odds, because we’re all going to die anyway, Amanda underwent an exorcism. As fate would have it, her health drastically improved.
She has now written a book about her entire experience and has since then decided never to mess with the spiritual world.
