Apart from all the random, hilariously weird things that trend online, the Wikipedia page of a ‘man’ has caught the attention of Twitterati. Well, it’s not a page giving information about a certain male, but it’s about the term ‘man’. Confused much? Let me help you out here.

As millennials, the first thing we do when we wish to unearth factual knowledge on a subject is look it up on Wikipedia. Now if you’re interested in looking up the definition and etymology of the term ‘man’, just make your way to the Wiki page for Man. You’ll find that the picture section has been updated with the photo of an Indian male, titled a ‘Man’. Wiki also helpfully offers us information on ‘man’s terminology, biology and ‘masculinity’ too.

Screenshots of the page were shared on Twitter by ‘twitr breath’ who goes by the handle @amyoosed. The user captioned it, “The Wikipedia entry for ‘man’ has a mallu dude posing as a man I CANNOT.”

Since then people have been guessing that the picture is of a Malayali and have come up with quirky assumptions of how he ended up being featured on the site.

Some were even successful in identifying the man whose image was featured on the site.

People also pointed out how Wikipedia misspelt ‘Mone’ (used to address ‘son’ in Malayalam).

We did some digging and found out his Pixabay account from where the pictures were lifted. His username is abhiputhenpurackal143.

For the uninitiated, anyone can edit or create a page on the online encyclopedia after registering on the site. Probably someone wasn’t satisfied with the general image of a ‘man’ and hence decided to convey their own interpretation of the word ‘man’- a desi Malayali. LOL!
