Man Asks Why Women Wear Wedding Markers Like Sindoor, Mangalsutra & Men Don’t, Desis Respond

Right from the mangalsutra and maang tika to the chooda and sindoor; there are several accessories that married women choose to flaunt. It was once an age-old tradition for women to wear many of these on a daily basis. However, a guy took to social media to point out the fact that no such ‘wedding markers’ exist for men.

Varun Rana shared a post claiming that several accessories worn by married women exist to remind other men that she is taken and hence is essentially off-limits. He then wondered why men can’t wear something ‘predominantly public’ as well.

He also suggested that if married men wore such markers, it may help let women know that they won’t be creepy and are safe to be approached for any help if necessary.

His views sparked a discussion where some comments suggested that no marker of matrimony truly guarantees safety. And that married men can be creepy too. All the same, other people responded by sharing various types of markers that married men could sport.
