Cases of dowry in Indian society are one of the ugliest realities of the 21st century. While illegal, it is sadly still demanded and paid by a lot of families in hopes of securing their daughters a happy married life. In a recent case, a 24-year-old doctor died by suicide after allegedly being tortured for dowry by her husband.
The final year student of Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery, was found dead in her in-law’s home in the last week of June. Her demise sparked online protests after it was discovered that she’d allegedly spoken to a loved one about the assault she was facing in her in-laws home. Kiran, her husband, has now admitted he assaulted Vismaya on over 5 occasions.
Nevertheless, the case remains under police investigation. At such a time, the online edition of a magazine used Vismaya’s wedding photo on their cover page.

A photo of the cover is going viral online with people expressing their disappointment with the unfortunate choice of cover.
Atrocious! Such a pathetic business mindedness.. #ShameOnYouManorama

Woah, they went there. They used the wedding pictures! The incident and the life after that caused her death — on their cover!? How? Was no one thinking?

Fully agree. They have gone avariciously money minded, so that they will sell anything for it. Even ignoring the good conscience and their moral standing. Typical example of a degeneration and rot happened to a decent profession or business.

Some wondered whether the girl’s parents’ consent was taken before using the image.
Obviously they wud have her parents consent, wouldn't they?
— A-JAI (@Ajaijoy2) June 30, 2021
Is this with her parents' consent?

Others pointed out that the wording was callous.
Let there be no more of these bewilderments.
The name of the lady who had died by suicide (allegedly) is Vismaya which also translates to bewilderment.
