16-Year-Old From Baroda Isn’t Eligible For A Drivers Licence, So She Flies Planes Instead

Sky’s isn’t the limit. 

A young girl from Gujarat secures her flying licence even before she can rightfully get her learner’s licence. Such is the power of passion, dedication and support of the people who believe in you.

Not a day older than 16, Varija Shah has secured a flying licence for her sixteenth birthday!

Varija hails from Baroda and was fascinated by planes since she was a student of class VII. Her father always wanted her to become a pilot. Last year she joined the Gujarat Flying Club and today she has a licence to fly.

 

Varija flew Cessna aircraft on Monday under the guidance of Charlie Weir, the chief flight instructor of the Gujrat Flying Club. She hovered above the city for good 20 minutes. She shares the experience of her first flight and says,

“I flew Cessna 152 for the first time and it was an awesome experience once we were in air.

I could see the entire city below. The instructor gave me all directions about speed and also gave me control of the plane at the high altitude”

 

Student of class XI, Varija aims to become an Indian Air Force Pilot. She says,I will get a private pilot licence, join National Cadet Corps and then join the Indian Air Force.” She is also a state and national-level tennis champion.
