In our highly connected society, cyber security has become a growing concern. As we upload our entire lives onto a variety of social media, we seem to take the security of our social accounts for granted. A hacker group who call themselves ‘Legion’ has recently come to prominence as they hacked into the Twitter accounts of Rahul Gandhi and Congress.
Vijay Mallya’s Twitter handle seems to be the latest victim of this infamous hacker group.
Soon after taking control of the account, the group made a massive data dump of a whole host of passwords, emails, documents and other sensitive data.
And they weren’t exactly nonchalant about the hack.
The beer baron accused the hacker collective of blackmailing him but they were quick to dismiss the allegations.
As soon as Indian Twitter caught wind of the hack, a slew of Vijay Mallya jokes came pouring in:
1. I can totally understand if that’s true. 😛
The cure to drunk tweets is to cry hacked. #VijayMallya #RahulGandhi

Well, Indian Twitter certainly seems to be overjoyed by this hack.
On a serious note though, can we really extol criminal activity like this just because we think the victim deserves it?Â
