Much before Pokemon Go grabbed the attention of the smartphone users, there were Angry Birds. The main objective of this simple game was to smash the pigs with the help of the birds.
This game too was made into a movie, which released this year.
3. Need For Speed
For over a decade, Need For Speed has been the favorite racing game for most of the gamers. The success of the game led production houses like DreamWorks Pictures and Reliance Entertainment to adapt the game into a movie in the year 2014.
The film had Aaron Paul in the lead.
4. Resident Evil films
This popular game has lead to the birth of a popular film franchise. Till date, 5 Resident Evils films has been released and the sixth one is set to release next year. All the films in this series are loosely based on the computer game of the same name.
5. Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life
The first Tomb Raider games were released in 1996. It became an instant hit and ever since its release it has remained one of the most loved action games ever.
The first Tomb Raider film titled Lara craft: Tomb Raider appeared in the year 2001.
Angelina Jolie played the lead and its sequel came out in 2003. But sadly, the film failed to replicate the success of the game.
6. Max Payne
Max Payne is a very popular third person shooter game, that was developed in 2001 for PCs. The game was later adapted into a film of the same name which was released in the year 2008.
The film had stars like Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis.
7. Hitman and Hitman: Agent 47
The game revolves around a certain Agent 47, who is an assassin. There are more than 9 versions of the game. The Hitman film which released in the year 2007, was based on the famous video game. the second Hitman film came out in the year 2015.
The game has also inspired a novel.
8. Mortal Kombat
This famous game based on martial art has inspired not one but two films. Both the films dealt with a group of martial arts warriors whose actions would decide the fate of the world.
If all goes well, the third Mortal kombat film might hit the screens next year.
9. Assassin’s Creed
In the recent past, there is hardly a game which can match its popularity. It’s a historical fiction action game that deals with assassins who are assigned to various missions. The game has inspired a movie of the same name which is scheduled to be released later this year.
The film follows the story of a guy, who discovers that he is a descendant of the secret Assassins society.
10. Ratchet & Clank
This science fiction action game follows the adventures of Ratchet, who is a mechanic and Clank, who is a robot. The duo travels through the Universe and tries to protect it from all the evil forces. The game inspired a film of the same name, which was released earlier this year.
Unlike the game, the movie failed to achieve much success.
11. Warcraft: The beginning
The Warcraft movie that came out this year was also inspired by a famous game of the same name. In the film, an Orc horde invades a planet using some magic portal and leads to a crisis.
Interestingly, most of the films failed to live up to their expectations. Well, it seems that we enjoy playing them more than watching them on screens.
