After 20 Years, Mumbai’s Cleaned-Up Versova Beach Plays Host To Olive Ridley Turtles. Wow!

Do you love makeovers? Then you’re going to love the makeover story of Mumbai’s Versova beach! And a major chunk of the credit for this massive beautification initiative goes to Mumbai lawyer Afroz Shah and his team of dedicated volunteers.

Despite several hindrances, and with the support of celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Aditya Thackeray, Randeep Hooda, and several others, Afroz and his team have managed to pull off a Herculean task.

And adding yet another laurel to the Versova Beach Cleanup initiative, is the news that after almost 20 years, the beach will be playing host to newly hatched Olive Ridley sea turtles!

The beach, fresh off its cleanliness drive, is now suitable to become a home to these marine creatures!

Afroz Shah tweeted lovely pictures of these little fellas, taking a tour of their new home!

Cuties, aren’t they? But just getting them here isn’t the end of the road. In fact, it is only the beginning. Afroz, in his tweet, has called for a marine conservation centre for Versova beach, which will ensure the safety and thriving of these turtles.
