When planning an event for students aiming for IIT, JEE, and NEET exams, it’s important to pick the right people to speak. Professors, engineers, doctors, scholars, and entrepreneurs who know what they’re talking about should be invited because they’ve been through it themselves. They have the experience and can offer valuable advice to the aspiring students.
On the other hand, inviting filmmakers, actors, or sportspersons might not make much sense. While they’re talented in their own fields, they might not have the right experience or knowledge to help students with their studies and career goals.
Which is why Unacademy, the online educational platform, has been facing criticism for inviting Karan Johar, Sania Mirza, Kartik Aaryan and Anupam Mittal for an event “celebrating JEE and NEET learners and toppers”.
Gauran Munjal, the founder and CEO of Unacademy, took to X to share the news along with posters for the event. Have a look:

Several people online took a dig at the announcement and said that educators like HC Verma and RD Sharma and ex-IITians or rank holders could have been called for the event instead. After all, the success of the event depends on having speakers who can connect with our audience and provide useful guidance. Isn’t it?
Have a look at some of the reactions here:
is this a joke ? where is HC Verma and RD sharma ?

deepinder, albinder, ashneer, sachin b, lalit keshre, vidit?

Instead of celebrities, IAS officers and past successful JEE toppers would make more sense

Yes, Karan Johar, Karthik Aryan and Sania Mirza will tell you the toil it takes for those two years.
Might as well have Orri on the call

Is the session about telling the toppers that going to IIT is a waste of time. Should go into movies or sports instead? 😂

Call book authors or successful people who ranked 1-10 in the last decade. Know your potential customers

Sania Mirza , understandable , if you look at the elite sport aspect , it does require perseverance. Anupam Mittal , a stretch, but suuuure. WTF are Karthik Aryan and Karan Johan gonna say.
