2-Year-Old Saves 6 Lives After Tragically Losing His Own & Here’s How He Did It!

Along with organ transplant being a complicated process in itself, finding an organ donor is also a task. One must be really lucky to find a suitable match. But a recently recorded story of a successful organ transplant from a really young donor can be called nothing but a miracle.

A two-year-old boy in Chennai had been diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy and severe LV dysfunction, causing repetitive bouts of breathlessness.

According to sources, the boy had undergone strong medication but didn’t show any improvement. Doctors suggested that a heart transplant is the only way to save the child.

However, they did find a donor. And by some astonishing turn of events, the donor was also a two-year-old hailing from Mumbai!

The donor (unnamed) had suffered irreversible brain damage earlier this year. Hence, the family decided to donate the child’s organs to help those in need. Since then, they have changed the lives of six people, including the Chennai kid.

The two-year-old donor has now been recognised as India’s youngest donor!

“This surgery was difficult and challenging as the recipient was a two-year-old toddler. So we had to sensitively balance all the challenges to perform the transplant to the child. We are humbled to acknowledge that this surgery is another milestone in the treatment of pediatric cardiac patients requiring heart transplants”, said Dr K R Balakrishnan, the doctor who performed the operation.

The doctors reported that the patient is recovering well.

Thanks to the two-year-old donor, another two-year-old will be able to experience life!
