Woman’s Thread On How You Are Not Lazy Just Demotivated Will Make You Understand YOU!

It’s easy to blame your own self. It’s easy to self-hate. I feel like that’s the first reaction of most people, put everything negative on your own self. We use words lightly when we are dissing ourselves and we don’t realise the consequences those words can have on our psyche.

This Twitter user, Shaira described how the word ‘lazy’ may have a negative connotation on our mind. She wrote about the difference between the word ‘lazy’ and ‘demotivated’ as her therapist told her.

I had never thought of it this way. Small words and thoughts can help us to not blame ourselves and shift the problem to a situation. And you know what, situations can be fixed!

She even shared an anecdote from her own life talking about her dilemma with studies. For long her fight was internal, constantly struggling with herself and hating her own self. However, she later realised that she wasn’t the problem but something else.

These tweets are opening my eyes to so many things and so many times that I and a lot of us condemn ourselves. But it’s actually something in our environment that is causing the slump in life and isn’t letting us be motivated.

Her tweets made another user reply to her and put forth his opinion. According to him one shouldn’t wait for motivation but train oneself to be disciplined.

He put forth his notion that laziness and motivation stem from two different things. Instead of waiting for outer motivation, one should take charge and change what we think isn’t correct.

Shahira then spoke to the user said that “prettier words” have nothing to do with it. She said that she was trying to put forth a perspective from those afflicted with mental health.

The discussion continued. And let me say this once, mutually respecting each other’s views and not dissing and taking digs at one another, is another new for Twitter.

They spoke about how the difference can be made if one takes charge of their own actions versus those who blame the environment.

They both came to the conclusion that it actually differs from person to person. Each person functions differently, some put the onus on themselves and get bogged down by it. Others, however, function better if they take charge and change things for themselves.

It’s beautiful seeing people sharing their thoughts on how to improve situations for themselves and those around them. Let’s promote self-love and help those who are being burdened by the pressure of negativity they are putting on themselves. Whatever works for each individual, let’s help them choose to appreciate themselves rather than criticising and condemning themselves.
