Like the current weather, you can’t predict what Elon Musk will be doing the very next day. After he took over Twitter, he was quick to fire many top officials after which many employers voluntarily left the workspace.
He recently changed the icon of Twitter from the blue birdie to the dogecoin cryptocurrency image momentarily but switched it back too. And now, several prominent personalities have lost their blue tick on the micro-blogging site.
Among them are several Indian celebs like Shahid Kapoor, Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Prakash Raj, Akshay Kumar, MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Yusuf Pathan, and Sachin Tendulkar, among other personalities.
After watching that the blue tick has been taken away from them, several of them reacted.
Amitabh Bachchan hilariously trolled Twitter.

His tweet roughly translates to, ‘Oh Twitter brother, are you listening? I have also made the payments, so please place the blue tick back which was there in front of my name so that people know that this is me, Amitabh Bachchan. I have already folded my hands (requesting) do you want me to fold my legs too.’
Sachin came up with his own ‘blue tick’.
As of now, this is my blue tick verification! 😬 https://t.co/BSk5U0zKkp pic.twitter.com/OEqBTM1YL2

Shahid Kapoor went the Kabir Singh way and threatened Elon for removing his blue tick, jokingly.

Actor Nargis Fakhri asks, “If anyone can buy it then what’s the point?”
I never really come on here. i just noticed I’m no longer verified with that blue thingy. So now everyone with a blue check pays a fee for it. Hmm okay. if anyone can buy it then what’s the point. 🤷🏻♀️

Here are others who reacted to the removal of the verification badge.

What’s even more interesting is that the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY), which regulates platforms like Twitter in India, also got unverified.
Through a tweet, Twitter has given a heads up to people that they will be removing ‘legacy verified checkmarks’. If they intend to remain verified on Twitter, they would need to sign up for Twitter Blue which also enables them to edit their tweets.
Tomorrow, 4/20, we are removing legacy verified checkmarks. To remain verified on Twitter, individuals can sign up for Twitter Blue here: https://t.co/gzpCcwOXAX
Organizations can sign up for Verified Organizations here: https://t.co/YtPVNYypHU

The ‘blue tick’ worked as a verification and authenticity icon for the accounts of prominent people with the intention to prevent anyone from impersonating them. Since it’s gone, and we don’t know for how long, it can create chaos online and the unverification might lead to increased impersonation. What do you think?
