Goa Traffic Cops Dress As Santa Claus To Educate Motorists About Traffic Safety

Over the years, traffic police in India have stepped up their game to raise awareness about road safety. From rewarding law-abiding citizens with discount coupons to feeding traffic violaters ladoos, the cops have come up with some innovative ideas to solve the recurring traffic issues.

Keeping the Christmas spirit in mind, Goa traffic police have now come up with a unique way to educate traffic violators in the city. Dressed as Santa, the traffic cops are distributing chocolates while educating motorists and two-wheeler riders about traffic safety regulations, reports NDTV.

“We intercepted violators and educated them about their safety. We used the occasion to spread the message in our own special way,” Inspector Brandon D’Souza of Panaji traffic police was quoted saying by Business Standard.

Several two-wheeler riders were wearing helmets but their safety gears were not strapped on properly or didn’t have the mandatory ISI mark. Also, motorists were found driving without putting on their seat belts.

“We are thankful to the traffic police for educating riders and motorists in this unique manner. This is the right way to convey the message,” one of the riders Sandra Alvares said.

While many of us are busy ushering in the festivities, traffic policemen are engaged in finding better ways to protect our lives. We truly appreciate the hardworking cops’ creative approach to such a grave problem.
