Is Mumbai Better Or Navi Mumbai? The Fight Never Gets Over

Ah, the great Mumbai debate!

City-dwellers have been squabbling for bragging rights since time immemorial. The island city, composed of seven parts, is well connected. One crucial part, and aptly named, is Navi Mumbai. A planned city by CIDCO, Navi Mumbai was proposed to tackle and weed out all the problems faced by Mumbai City. But this led to a discussion of epic proportions, which, perhaps, will go on forever.

Here are just a few pointers, among many, that distinguish both districts in their own ways, so that you can pass a fair judgement.

1. Mumbai has everything you need in every place you go

Convenience is king here. You want something, it’s too difficult to fail in Mumbai city. But sometimes, it gets very cluttered.

Navi Mumbai is better organised since it’s a planned city

Because the idea was to make it planned AF, Navi Mumbai also gets you everything you desire, but with the added advantage of ease of access.

 

2. Mumbai has excellently connected public transport

Rickshaws, taxis, BEST buses, trains, metro. Need we say more?

Navi Mumbai has state of the art train stations

Navi Mumbai has all of the above. A metro line is currently under construction. Upper hand? The freaking railway stations are works of art!

 

3. Mumbai has the best restaurants to boast of

From the poor man’s road stall, to the uber-rich’s five-star restaurant, Mumbai has it all, and in abundance.

Navi Mumbai has cute little cafés spread everywhere

Navi Mumbai makes up for its lesser restaurants with cafés, delis, and bars all over.

 

4. Mumbai has Worli sea-face

… along with the breathtaking view of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link.

5. Mumbai has Wankhede Stadium

Stomping ground for the great Sachin Tendulkar and the Mumbai Indians.

Navi Mumbai has D. Y. Patil stadium

Excellent football AND cricket ground. Home stadium for the Pune Warriors team.

 

6. Mumbai has Evershine Gardens

One of Mumbai’s first all-purpose amusement gardens.

Navi Mumbai has Rock Garden

Navi Mumbai’s most pleasant park. People love it here in the monsoons.

 

7. Mumbai has amazingly built high rises and malls

It’s not called Mumbai’s New York for no reason!

Navi Mumbai is all about open space and greenery

CIDCO left ample space for greenery and hence, there are loads of pastures and trekking hills all over Navi Mumbai.

 

8. Mumbai has Marine Drive

Mumbai is sometimes known for Marine Drive, it’s world-famous promenade.

Navi Mumbai has Palm Beach Road

One of Navi Mumbai’s widest, cleanest, and most open, driver-friendly roads.

 

9. Mumbai has Crawford Market

If you want anything, but at a cheap rate, Crawford Market is the place to be.

The entire Mumbai’s vegetable stash. Even Mumbai itself gets its veggies from Navi Mumbai’s wholesale market.
